Robots And Empire by bergamind Robots And Empire by bergamind
Who has read Isaac Asimov??? I just love his epic and monumental stories. Foundation, The Robots of Dawn, I Robot... all of them, milestones of my adolescence.

This image is my tribute to one of the greatest sci-fi writers of the XX Century.

"...and the artificial humanoid keeps scouting the massive abandoned metropolis for any sign of human life, like he was programmed to do. He of course, won't find any... and even though he has some precarious notion of this in his positronic brain; he will, nonetheless, keep perfoming his task until a human master change his programming... if this ever happen."

This painting was produced as cover art for american band EkoTren.

made in 3 days in Adobe Photoshop and a Wacom Intuos3

I like the purity of the design, who retranscribe well the cold, futuristic but yet impressive atmosphere (and charming... Well I am also a fan as you can see) to Asmiov's worlds :)
I am actually reading "The Naked Sun", and far from the story (and all those that I read previously), I feel the need to put illustrations on it (as well the work of other people, as mine... still in my minds hahaha !)
A really good job ! :)

Very nice. Although you might want to edit the background just a bit. Avoids conflict. Great band choice by the way.

Its just because I'm used to seeing that album cover. Maybe crumble a building or two. Just a suggestion.

Looks great.

Back in the day, they also had the Foundation series on the radio.
That was cool.

Back in the past they used to have radio shows.
Stuff like the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy, Foundation and some other stuff.
Then PBS had a hitchhikers guide series on tv.

Now I don't even bother with my radio anymore.
Listen to internet radio, more of a chance to find stations that
have a few commercials or none.

Wow, I saw the other zoomed-in version before I saw this one. What an excellent scene! :) Asimov's books were definitely milestones of my adolescence as well. They still hold up even today, as I've read the "Robot" and "Foundation" series multiple times. Definitely one of the all-time greatest novelists in my mind! :) You do him and the series proud with your work here. :)

It's not based on any particular robot present in any of Asimov's stories... Just a general tribute to his sagas.

Beautiful work. You did something really cool with the sculptural detail. Based on the Hudson Building, right? And I like the subtle Deco patterns in the robot-guy's skin. Great job all round.

Very good! I used the Niagara Hudson Building as reference. It is one of my favorites Art Deco structures... The rest of it is based on numerous Art Deco features I like. I add the roman columns for a sense of size and dimension.
